One day Symposium on Opportunities for Entrepreneurs in Minor Minerals

One day symposium was organized by the department of mining engineering on 29th September 2018 Minor Minerals are ordinary building stone, gravel, ordinary sand and clay etc. as notified by GOI. Recently 31 major minerals have been added to the list of minor minerals by Ministry of Mines. Minor minerals are being mined in small extents and occupy only mineral bearing areas. In the recent past a number of accidents/incidents have taken place because of not having scientific and systematic mining. The addition of 31 major minerals into the list of minor minerals has provided a platform for the state governments for better compliance of safety and environmental legislation's. Skill development is required for achieving the above goal. Mining engineering graduates have to be appraised of the opportunities and responsibilities in operation of minor minerals. It gives an opportunity for young mining and civil engineers to develop as entrepreneurs for meeting the goal of scientific and systematic mining. This Symposium comprises of invited talks by eminent personalities, present and former Director of mines and geology and faculty members.
