About Department

The Department of Mining Engineering was established in the year 2013. The Department offers a 4-year B.Tech. Degree programme in Mining Engineering with an annual intake of 60 students. The programme ensures that the student effectively meets the highest benchmarks of competence required by the industry. The department has been nurturing and developing students to be successful in both personal and professional life.

The department has recruited an extremely qualified faculty from Premium institutes like Indian School of Mines, IITs, NITs and also with rich industry background who are committed to the student's progress and welfare. The faculty always conduct mentoring session to students to connect with them personally in order to empower and rejuvenate students. Senior faculty members deliver guest lectures on important topics at regular intervals.

The department has established “Gas Testing Lab”, which is for the first time in an academic institution in South India. Department facilities include a library having reference books, text books supplemented with National and International journals. The department has class rooms with state of art facilities like LCD, OHP, other Audio Video equipment and CDs.

Industrial visits are organized to gain familiarity with the industrial systems and to maintain a rapport with industry. Students are sent to selected industry every year to gain knowledge from the field in a hands on approach. Students are highly encouraged to participate in the inter and intra college seminars/workshops to keep themselves abreast of the latest information and exchange knowledge with other academic institutions and professional bodies.

The Department in collaboration with Institute of Engineers India (IEI) and Mining Engineer’s Association of India (MEAI) established student chapters within the campus and always encourage students to attend their conferences when organised outside the campus in order to interact with mining experts frequently. Department is also encouraging students, to participate in college activities like “AKSHARA” National level fest, “VISHESH” Innovation Day, Sports, NCC, Blood Donation and Co-curriculum activities.

Gas Testing Lab

A Gas testing Laboratory first of its kind in Telengana State colleges. The equipments installed in the laboratory were supplied by DGMS approved manufacturer and supplier M/s. J.K.Dey & Sons. This laboratory was established so that Mining Engineering students get trained in the art of gas testing. The intention is to issue Flame Familiarity certificate which helps students to appear for and get Gas testing certificate. The department requested DGMS in writing to the makes the facility an examination center to conduct GT exam. This skill, knowledge and the certificate are statutory pre-requisites for any future work in mines.
